Revlon Lip Butter Review & Swatches

Hey beauties~
Yes, I've also seen countless of Revlon Lip Butter reviews all over the beauty community too. But having been using them for quite a while now, and collected 15 of the 20 shades, I wanted to give you guys a thorough, detailed review that doesn't leave anything out :)
left to right: Cherry Tart, Candy Apple, Tutti Frutti, Peach Parfait, Creme Brulee, Gumdrop, Cotton Candy, Sweet Tart, Lollipop, Raspberry Pie, Sugar Plum, Berry Smoothie, Pink Truffle, Brown Sugar, Fig Jam.

 1) Packaging: I love the packaging- so cute! I also love how there is a window at the top so I can see what the true color is before I buy it. However, there are two things I dont like about the packaging; the lid and the tube. Because the lid is so close to the bottom it can be hard to open sometimes. There is also no space between the tube and the lip butter so the lip butter smears onto the tube. However, these are just minor problems and overall I love how the packaging looks!

2) Colors: These come in a range of 20 shades! They have one for everyone; from nudes, to browns, to reds, to pinks, to berries, to corals, from natural mlbb colors to bold and bright colors. There are colors that are original.

3) Formula: Now this is where I think the name is misleading. I think "lip butter" was just a name revlon gave to make the line stand out from the rest of lipsticks. The formula is more like a balmy, moisturizing, buildable lipstick. I wouldnt call it just a moisturizing lipstick because the texture is more thick and balmy than that. I personally love the feeling that it gives to my lips, but some reviews have said it felt too thick for them.

4) Wear: I find these last for 2-3 hours, depending on the color. Surprisingly, these will not leave your lips moisturized after they wear off. I have to put a lip balm underneath before re-applying these because otherwise they are too dry for me.

4) Price: These retail from ~$6.50 to $7.50. Unfortunately there is not that much product in the tube and I have to reapply often throughout the day, so they are a little pricy.

Pros: pretty packaging, can see color before buying, wide shade selection, moisturizing formula, easily accessible
Cons: minor packaging issues, don't leave lips moisturized, little product for the price

Now onto the swatches!!

Top Row: Fig Jam, Pink Truffle, Brown Sugar, Creme Brulee, Peach Parfait, Tutti Frutti, Candy Apple
Bottom Row: Gumdrop, Cotton Candy, Sweet Tart, Lollipop, Raspberry Pie, Berry Smoothie, Sugar Plum
 Cool Shades
Gumdrop: pale lavender, cream finish, sheer buildable pigmentation. This one goes a little streaky on me :/
Cotton Candy: light cool pink with gold shimmer, sheer buildable pigmentation
Sweet Tart: bright medium cool toned pink, cream finish, medium pigmentation.
Lollipop: bold hot pink with blue undertones, tiny silver shimmers, very pigmented.
Raspberry Pie: bold warm fuscia, cream finish, very pigmented.
Berry Smoothie: mlbb shade of berry and pink, tiny pink shimmers, sheer buildable pigmentation.
Sugar plum: purple in the tube, but a wearable mauvey berry shade on lips. cream finish, medium pigmentation. One of my favorites! :)

Warm Shades
Fig Jam:dark brown in the tube, but a mlbb brown toned natural red on lips. No shimmer, sheer to buildable pigmentation.
Pink Truffle: mlbb brown toned medium pink, cream finish, medium pigmentation. One of my most worn shades just because it goes with anything.
Brown Sugar: Medium warm brown, tiny shimmers, sheer to bulidable pigmentation. A great nude for the fall.
Creme Brulee: light neutral beige, cream finish, sheer to buildable pigmentation. Reminds me of coffee after the cream.
Peach Parfait: warm pink with noticeable gold shimmers, sheer to buildable pigmentation.
Tutti Frutti: bright orange in the tube and swatch, but a nice orangey coral shade on lips! cream finish, medium pigmentation.
Candy Apple: bright orangey tomato red, cream finish, very pigmented. Another favorite of mine!

Top: Candy Apple
Bottom: Cherry Tart
This is just a comparison of 2 of the red shades in the collection. (I got Cherry Tart after taking the pics above). Anyways, Cherry Tart is a milder, cooler red with some pink. It also has some shimmer, and is less pigmented than Candy Apple.

As you have read, not all the shades come out on the lips as they look in the tube! Keep in mind that these are sheerer than regular lipsticks so they will look different once they combine with your natural lip color. That being said, there are some very pigmented shades that do give great color payoff, and, all of the other sheer and medium pigmented shades CAN give full color! You will just have to apply them more times on the lips than the pigmented shades.
In general, the lighter colors are more sheer, and the darker and brighter colors are more pigmented. However, this is not the case with Fig Jam, Sugar Plum, Tutti Frutti, and Brown Sugar.  These 4 are much more wearable than the color in the tube. :)

I will be doing individual reviews with lip swatches soon! I hope you found this review helpful! Let me know what you thought of the lip butters :)
