Maybelline Porcelain Lipstick: Elegant Lilac

I'm sure many of you have seen the new display of the Maybelline Porcelain Limited Edition collection. Well, I've been looking for a dark purple lipstick for a while, and when I saw swatches of the color Elegant Lilac online, I thought I found my perfect one. I immediately went to buy it the next day.

However...

The color of this lipstick looks NOTHING like the swatches I saw online! The color is a medium-dark purple but it's just so so GRAY. It's very unflattering and makes my skin look strange and dead.

The grayness was really hard to capture in photos, but I tried:

The color on my lips is more accurate in this picture than in the lip swatch above

The formula of the lipstick is just like the ones of the Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks. The lipstick is pigmented, fairly smooth, lasts quite well but can get drying throughout the day.

I would recommend other Maybelline lipsticks, but definitely not this color.

L'oreal Colour Riche Caresse Sticks arrive in Walgreens!

The new L'oreal Colour Riche Caresse Sticks which were originally only sold at Target, have arrived at Walgreens! I checked CVS and Rite Aid but both of the stores don't carry these yet.

The line at Walgreens carries 12 shades, just like Target. This makes me quite confused; has anyone else seen Musings of a Muse's blog post about these lipsticks where she showed 16 shades?

The colors:

I didn't realize that Cardinal Plume was turned differently from the others until now and this annoys me..anyways...

Now here is the part that really disappointed me; They are $10.50 each!
Target sells these lipsticks for $8.00. That means that even with a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale, the caresse sticks will be $15.75 for two at Walgreens and $16 without any sale at Target. (I don't know about you, but Target doesn't do makeup sales in my area =[ ). Adding the tax in my area, the caresse sticks will be ~ $16.74 with a sale at Walgreens, making it more expensive than in Target without a sale. That's ridiculous!

Other than the price, these are some really nice lipsticks. Check my review of the shades Violet Chiffon and Sunset Angora here;  NEW L'oreal Colour Caresse Sticks Review & Swatches if you're interested!

Hopefully we'll be seeing these come out in other drugstores soon. What colors have you bought, or which colors do you want to buy?

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters LIP SWATCHES Part 4: CORALS + REDS

Part 4 and the last edition of the Revlon Lip Butter lip swatches are finally up! Here I swatched 2 of the orangy colors and 2 of the red colors.

Don't forget check out Part 1: PINKSPart 2: NEUTRALS , and  Part 3: BERRY COLORS of the revlon lip butter lip swatch series :).

Left to right: Peach parfait, Tutti Frutti, Candy Apple, Cherry Tart

Left to right: Cherry Tart, Candy Apple, Tutti Frutti, Peach Parfait

Peach Parfait: A warm pink with noticeable gold shimmers, sheer to buildable pigmentation. I would say this one has the most shimmer out all the ones I got.  A beautiful, natural everyday color, especially for spring and summer.

Tutti Frutti: This color looks bright orange in the tube and in the swatch, but it comes out as a wearable orangy coral shade on the lips! A great one if you're a little afraid of the orange lip but still want to try it out. Cream finish, medium pigmentation.

Candy Apple: A bright orangey tomato red, cream finish. This one is one of the most pigmented in the collection. A favorite of mine! Perfect for fall and bright enough for the summer, in my opinion. :)

Cherry Tart: A milder, cooler red than Candy Apple with some pink undertones. Has tiny shimmers, medium pigmentation. A good choice for someone who is starting out on the red lip.

I hope you found these lip swatches to be helpful! If you have any questions or comments dont be afraid to write them below :).

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter LIP SWATCHES Part 2: NEUTRALS

Here are the lips swatches of the 4 neutral colors in the Revlon Lip Butter collection. Check out Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter LIP SWATCHES Part 1: PINKS if you haven't already done so! Stay tuned for part 3 and part 4 :)

Left to Right: Creme Brulee, Brown Sugar, Pink Truffle, Fig Jam
Left to Right: Fig Jam, Pink Truffle, Brown Sugar, Creme Brulee

Creme Brulee: light neutral beige, cream finish, sheer to buildable pigmentation. It won't completely erase the color of lips that naturally have color (like mine), but it will lighten them.

Brown Sugar: Medium warm brown, tiny shimmers, sheer to bulidable pigmentation. Don't be scared of this shade since it's sheerer than the color in the tube. I love how this color mutes the color my lips without washing me out, like a regular light nude shade. Can be a great color for the fall for lighter skin tones or a good nude for darker skin tones.

Pink Truffle: mlbb brown toned medium pink, cream finish, medium pigmentation. One of my most worn shades just because it goes with anything. I think this one will flatter all skin tones.

Fig Jam: Again, don't be afraid of this one. It's pretty much the same concept as the Clinique Black Honey lipstick; it's a dark dark brown it the tube but comes off as a sheer wash of natural brown toned red on the lips. Cream finish, sheer to buildable pigmentation.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter LIP SWATCHES Part 1: PINKS

Here are the much delayed lip swatches of the Revlon Lip Butters! I decided to divide the lippies into different sections by color just because I have so many of them. These are my 3 pink colors with Gumdrop, just because I really didn't know where to add that one...

Left to right: Gumdrop, Cotton Candy, Sweet Tart, Lollipop

Gumdrop: pale lavender, cream finish, sheer buildable pigmentation.
This one is too streaky for me to wear alone. It's a shame because it's a beautiful and unique color for drugstore. The only way I can wear Gumdrop without any streakiness (is that a word?) is to put a light layer of another purple lipstick, and then put Gumdrop on over it.

Cotton Candy: light cool pink with gold shimmer, sheer buildable pigmentation.
I'm really happy with this shade because most pinks, especially cool pinks, look really weird on my yellow-tone skin. Although this is a cool pink, it has gold shimmer that makes it more wearable.

Sweet Tart: bright medium cool toned pink, cream finish, medium pigmentation.
A nice buildable color that could be anywhere from a natural medium pink to a bold barbie pink that you see on my lips. I really enjoy the versatility of this shade.

Lollipop: bold hot pink with blue undertones, tiny silver shimmers, very pigmented.
A very BAM kind of bold, pigmented hot pink. Definitely one of the most pigmented and a standout in the collection.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter LIP SWATCHES Part 3: BERRY COLORS

Hey everyone, this is the part 3 of the lip swatch series, the berry colors. Ironically, I only think one of the 3 shades is a true berry color, but I just grouped the 3 in this category because they all have berry names.

Left to right: Berry Smoothie, Sugar Plum, Raspberry Pie

 Same order as above

Berry Smoothie: mlbb shade of berry and pink, tiny pink shimmers, sheer buildable pigmentation. I wouldn't really call this a true berry shade, its more of just a medium mauvey pink.

Sugar plum: This one looks straight up purple in the tube, but it turns out as a wearable mauvey berry shade on lips. Cream finish, medium pigmentation. One of my favorites! :)

Raspberry Pie: This shade looks like a dark raspberry shade in the tube, but it comes out as a bold warm fuscia on my lips. I would have put it on the pink category if it had a different name. Cream finish, one of the most pigmented in the entire collection.

Revlon Colorburst Lipglosses Review & Swatches

This is a review of my favorite drugstore lipglosses, the Revlon Colorburst Lipglosses! I'm much more of a lipstick than lipgloss kind of girl but I do like glosses that are pigmented.

The reasons why I love these glosses the most are:

1) These glosses are easily accessible and affordable

2) They have a lot of shades and a wide variety of different and unique colors.
3) Many of the colors are pigmented and give a full on color
4) These glosses have a smooth, creamy texture where they're not so comfortable they slide off but not so sticky that they will be blotchy or dry out the lips.
5) The wand comes with a long paddle-shaped applicator.
The 4 colors that I purchased:

Top to bottom: Strawberry, Papaya, Rosegold, Rosepearl

Left to right: Strawberry, Papaya, Rosegold, Rosepearl

Lip Swatches:
 Natural lip color

 Rosegold

Rosegold: The sheerest of the four. I wouldn't say this is a rose color, more of a gold-peachy-pink color with gold shimmers. A very pretty mlbb color.

 Rosepearl

Rosepearl: This one is an elegant dark rose color with silver shimmers. The shimmers are noticeable on the lips. It gives full color.

 Papaya

Papaya: A bold, pigmented coral-orange color with no shimmers. For some reason this one on my lips turn out more coral and less orange than the swatch, maybe because my natural lips have some color. Perfect for the summertime!

 Strawberry

Strawberry: Another pigmented, bold summer shade! This one is a bright pinky red that has glitters. The glitters are much more noticeable on the tube than on the lips.

If you like pigmented lipglosses, and hate the sticky texture but also dont want them to just slide off your lips, definetely check these out! They have a bunch of interesting shades and I'm sure you will find something for you :)
Let me know what you think!
